Hello everyone, here is my one-day itinerary in Ba Be. A big thank you to Autour Asia Vietnam travel agency, for perfectly organizing this trip.

The weather in Ba Be 1 day was also very pleasant. The climate is slightly cool in January, with some wind in the afternoon, while the daytime remains mild and enjoyable. This allowed me to fully enjoy my outdoor activities.

What to do in Ba Be in 1 Day? – Boat trip on the lake

There were so many places I wanted to visit, and I regretted being limited by time. So, I opted for a boat trip on the lake, with a stop at a cave and a nearby village. Despite the time constraints, every moment of that day was an unforgettable and remarkable experience.

Since I only stayed in Ba Be for one day, I didn’t have the chance to try many local specialties. However, the culinary selection in Ba Be already offered a great variety of local products, with freshly grown meat and vegetables from the area. It was a delightful, fresh, and flavorful meal, perfectly suited to my taste!

II. What to do in Ba Be in one day? Detailed itinerary

Morning – Natural exploration: Ba Be National Park

What to do in one day in Ba Be? After an hour’s drive through the mountains, I arrived at Ba Be National Park around 9 AM, eager to start my visit.

My day began with a boat excursion on Ba Be Lake. I enjoyed the fresh breeze while sailing between the small islets scattered across its crystal-clear waters – a truly memorable experience. In the distance, I even spotted some locals fishing with nets.

My first stop was Puong Cave, nestled beneath the karst mountain of Lung Nham, right after turning onto the Nang River. This massive cavity, about 30 meters high, extends deep into the rock and can be traversed in about ten minutes by boat. Inside, darkness prevails, revealing rock formations with intriguing shapes that create a mysterious atmosphere. As we ventured further, the river widened, and colorful stalactites became more abundant. My guide also shared that this cave is home to a colony of bats residing within Ba Be National Park.

Continuing along the Nang River, I made a stop at Ban Cam Village, home to the Tay ethnic group in Bac Kan province. The traditional stilt houses, characteristic of Vietnam’s northwestern minorities, give the village an authentic charm. The atmosphere was particularly warm, not only because of the wooden houses but also due to the locals’ hospitality. They welcomed visitors with great kindness, and I truly enjoyed observing their daily lives and chatting with them.

What to eat in Ba Be in 1 day? I had lunch at a local restaurant in the village and was impressed by the variety of ethnic specialties served on a large platter. The meal was generous, featuring grilled meat, fish, and forest vegetables, all sourced and cultivated directly by the locals. It was a delightful culinary experience in Ba Be in one day!

Afternoon – Cultural exploration: Ban Cam Village

Continuing my boat journey, I admired the lush nature surrounding Ba Be Lake. I was fortunate to visit in March, a time when swarms of butterflies gather on the water’s surface. This breathtaking natural scene felt like something straight out of a painting – serene and enchanting.

The next stop on my one-day itinerary in Ba Be was An Ma Temple, the most sacred site for the local people. It preserves historical remnants of a Vietnamese feudal dynasty. To reach it, our boat stopped at An Ma Island, in the middle of Ba Be Lake, recognizable by its shape resembling a turtle’s shell.

After this visit, we embarked on a short hike through the forest to explore the diverse ecosystem of Ba Be National Park. My knowledgeable and passionate guide shared valuable insights about the local plants – which ones are medicinal, which are edible, and even which are delicious!

At the end of the walk, I returned to Buoc Lom pier, where my driver was waiting. It took me back to Pac Ngoi Village in the evening, marking the end of a wonderful one-day trip in Ba Be.
