When you arrive at the café area, be sure to ask for a seat at the Railway Tuan Café! Tuan, the owner, personally came over to introduce himself. We enjoyed a delicious meal prepared by his mom and had some fantastic drinks. Tuan took the time to share stories with us, which made the experience even more enjoyable. He also mentioned that the cafes no longer allow guests to stay seated when the train passes, as the police usually clear the area. Fortunately, Tuan delayed our departure just long enough for us to see the train go through, such a cool experience! If you visit, ask Tuan to show you the bracelet we gave him from Iowa's RAGBRAI. This is our favorite restaurant on train street in Hanoi! There's always a warm and friendly welcome waiting for you. They serve possibly the best egg coffee we've ever had, along with a wide variety of meals, including great vegetarian options. The location is perfect for watching the train, no matter which direction it's traveling.
