Hello everyone! During my recent trip in Vietnam, I had the chance to embark on a 2 day Lan Ha Bay cruise aboard the magnificent Dora cruise. This getaway allowed me to discover breathtaking landscapes, often compared to the famous Halong Bay but with a more peaceful and pristine atmosphere. Over two days in Lan Ha Bay, I explored hidden coves, sailed among impressive karst islets, and enjoyed various activities. What to do in Lan Ha Bay? Let me take you through my unforgettable experience.
Last November, I spent 14 days in Vietnam, mainly exploring the northern regions. Of course, it was unthinkable not to include a 2 day Lan Ha Bay cruise in my itinerary! Located near the famous Halong Bay, Lan Ha Bay attracted me with its more untouched charm and fewer crowds.
Organized by AUTOUR ASIA, Travel agency in Hanoi Vietnam, this 2 day Lan Ha Bay itinerary gave me the opportunity to fully enjoy the sea breeze and admire unique landscapes found only in the bays of northern Vietnam. Away from the bustling tourist spots, this cruise provided a more intimate and authentic experience, where every moment on deck felt like a living postcard.
- Day 1: Hanoi – Halong Bay – Lan Ha Bay
- Day 2: Lan Ha Bay – Dark and Bright Cave – Hanoi
For this trip to Vietnam, before booking my 2-day Lan Ha Bay cruise, I hesitated between several options. Halong Bay is undoubtedly the most famous destination, but I was looking for a more exclusive experience, away from the crowds. That’s when I discovered Lan Ha Bay, which promised equally spectacular landscapes in a more peaceful and authentic setting.
Dora Lan Ha cruise quickly became the perfect choice: premium service, a well-balanced itinerary, and diverse activities to fully enjoy my 2-day Lan Ha Bay trip.
My 2-day Lan Ha Bay cruise started early in the morning with a comfortable transfer from my hotel in Hanoi’s Old Quarter. After a few hours on the road, with a short break along the way, I arrived at Tuan Chau port, where the magnificent Dora cruise awaited me.
From the moment I boarded the 2 day Lan Ha Bay cruise, the crew’s warm welcome and the refreshing welcome drink immediately set the mood. What amazing hospitality! After a quick safety briefing, I settled into my cabin—a true floating haven with a breathtaking view of the bay. Lunch on board was an absolute delight: fresh seafood and delicious Vietnamese specialties, all enjoyed while admiring the stunning rock formations of Halong Bay. A true feast for the eyes and taste buds!
Visiting Lan Ha Bay in 2 days, by early afternoon, the boat continued toward Lan Ha Bay, passing iconic sites such as Con Vit Islet and Thumb Islet. The scenery kept changing before my eyes, each view more beautiful than the last. What to do in Lan Ha Bay? One of the day’s highlights was exploring Lan Ha Bay’s natural lagoon, where I swam in crystal-clear waters, enjoying a moment of pure relaxation. What an incredible feeling to swim surrounded by these majestic limestone cliffs! Next, we headed to Ba Trai Dao beach or Tra Bau area, perfect for a kayaking session among the stunning karst formations. Paddling through this surreal landscape was simply magical!
As the first day of my 2 day Lan Ha Bay cruise came to an end, we returned to the boat just in time for a magnificent sunset, accompanied by fresh fruit, cakes, and a glass of wine. What a grand spectacle! The evening continued with a Vietnamese cooking class, where I learned how to prepare delicious spring rolls.
To end my first day on the 2 day Lan Ha Bay cruise, after a refined dinner featuring seafood and traditional Vietnamese dishes, I enjoyed a relaxing evening with board games, music, and even squid fishing. What a unique experience! A truly eventful first day in this dreamy setting!
The second day of my 2 day Lan Ha Bay cruise started at dawn with a Tai Chi session on the upper deck. Watching the sun rise over the bay while practicing these fluid movements was an incredibly soothing experience. What a perfect way to start the day! What to do in Lan Ha Bay? After a coffee and a light breakfast, we boarded a small boat to explore the famous Dark and Bright Cave. Rowed by a local boatman on a bamboo sampan, I discovered a mystical landscape of caves and hidden passages among limestone cliffs. What a natural wonder!
Visiting Lan Ha Bay in 2 days, back on the Dora cruise, I took one last moment to admire the spectacular scenery of Lan Ha Bay before checking out. The journey ended with an early lunch on board, as we cruised peacefully back to Tuan Chau port.
Once I disembarked, a luxury limousine transfer took me back to Hanoi, concluding this unforgettable 2 day Lan Ha Bay itinerary. So many unforgettable memories!
After 2 days in Lan Ha Bay, I can say without hesitation that this experience was one of the highlights of my trip to Vietnam. Among all the incredible experiences during my 2 day Lan Ha Bay cruise, three moments particularly stood out.
If you wonder what to do in Lan Ha Bay, kayaking is a must. Paddling through the majestic rock formations and entering hidden lagoons was an unforgettable experience. I particularly loved exploring the Ba Trai Dao area, where the emerald water reflected the towering limestone cliffs. What an absolute feeling of freedom!
On the second day of my 2-day Lan Ha Bay cruise, the excursion to the Dark & Bright Cave was a magical moment. Aboard a bamboo boat, we passed through a natural passage before discovering a secret lagoon, surrounded by lush cliffs. Far from the noise and mass tourism, this peaceful place seemed frozen in time. A true favorite!
As the 2 day Lan Ha Bay cruise anchored for the night, I witnessed an unforgettable sunset over Lan Ha Bay. Sitting on the deck, a drink in hand, I watched the sky turn golden and orange, while the islets formed shadowy silhouettes on the calm water. A moment suspended in time, of breathtaking beauty!
The 2 days in Lan Ha Bay were truly a magical escape. Between adventure, discovery, and contemplation, this 2 day Lan Ha Bay cruise gave me unforgettable memories.
