A Pottery-Making Day With Disadvantaged Children At Dong Da Friendship House, Hanoi

Pottery-Making Experience at Bat Trang Pottery Museum: Bringing Joy to Disadvantaged Children
On last March 24th, children from the Huu Nghi Dong Da Friendship House in Hanoi enjoyed a memorable day at the Bat Trang Pottery Museum, accompanied by Mr. Millet Claude and Mrs. Monique, thanks to the sponsorship of the Association d'amitié Corse Vietnam (Corsica Vietnam Friendship Association - ACVN). Guided by skilled artisans, the children experienced a day filled with laughter, joy, and creativity as they crafted pottery themselves.

During the morning, the children embarked on a visit to the Bat Trang Ceramic Museum, where they were guided through its various floors by knowledgeable tour guides, accompanied by Mr. and Mrs Claude. Through this visit, the children gained insight into the intricate process of ceramic making, from creation to final product. They had the opportunity to admire a stunning array of ceramic works, each exhibiting a diverse range of shapes, colours, and patterns within the exhibition spaces on each floor.

The afternoon is the time when children are most eagerly waiting to participate in the experiential class "I am an artisan" at the G floor of the museum, which holds many visitors with new experiences. Under the dedicated guidance of artisans, children can experience making pottery on a spinning wheel, kneading clay and shaping ceramic products to their liking. Even though they were confused, they were all very focused and passionate about their work. At first, their little hands were still confused, but gradually they got used to controlling the wheel and shaping the clay.

The joy is evident on the children's faces when they see their achievements: bowls, plates or funny animals that they made themselves. Some children make dishes, some make flower vases, some make funny dogs and cats,.. At the end of the experience, the children brought home souvenirs made by themselves with bright smiles and beautiful memories.
The G-floor of museum is a haven for expressing your creativity.
Experience making pottery day at Bat Trang Pottery Museum became a day of fun and learning for the children. They were not only introduced to the art of pottery making; it becomes a springboard for new friendships and shared creativity. Children learn from each other, practise patience and develop their ingenuity, while creating unique works together.
