Itinerary Expand All
Day 1: Saigon - Ben Tre - Cho Lach (Dinner)
Picked up by guide and driver and head towards Ben Tre, known as the "coconut kingdom." In the southern part of the city, board a boat for a cruise along the Ben Tre River, one of the branches of the Mekong. This journey will take you to a fascinating traditional brick factory and workshops where mats and coconut candies are made.
Indulge in a tropical fruit tasting session in an orchard before boarding a small rowing boat. Continue this river excursion through the heart of the arroyos, lined with water coconut trees.
The day concludes as you arrive at the rural lodge, "Jardin du Mekong" and settle into your room.
In the evening, prepare with the family a famous regional dish of Southern Vietnam called "Banh Xeo", which are rice flour pancakes filled with shrimp and aromatic herbs. After dinner, enjoy a pleasant foot massage offered by the village youth.
Overnight at "Jardin du Mekong".
Day 2: Cho Lach - Sa Dec - Can Tho (Breakfast)
In the morning, embark on a 2-hour bicycle exploration of the surrounding countryside, adorned with lush vegetation. Along the way, encounter locals working in orchards and witness everyday life scenes in the Mekong Delta.
Next, we head to the bonsai village of Cai Mon, located on the south bank of the Ham Luong River, where we will spend approximately an hour.
Crossing a public ferry, we continue towards Sa Dec, a city where the writer Marguerite Duras spent part of her childhood and found inspiration for her novel "The Lover," some parts of which were also filmed here. Discover the historical house of Huynh Thuy Le and the Kien An Cung Pagoda located along the canal.
Afterwards, we proceed towards Can Tho. Upon arrival in Can Tho, enjoy dinner at your leisure and spend the night at the hotel in Can Tho.
Day 3: Can Tho - Cai Rang Market - Saigon (Breakfast, Lunch)
Early in the morning, transfer by motorboat (approximately 30 minutes) to the bustling Cai Rang Floating Market, the largest and liveliest floating market on the Mekong. Witness a spectacular sight of boats loaded with various fruits, barges carrying agricultural products, vegetables, flowers, and even "restaurant sampans" offering meals, tea, coffee, and "bazars sampans" selling candies, beauty products, hardware, and more. The boats advertise their products on long bamboo poles where the items for sale are suspended (watermelon, tomato, pineapple, cabbage, coconut, etc.).
After the visit, return to the Can Tho pier and continue the journey back to Saigon by vehicle. Thanks to the recent construction of the Can Tho Bridge by the Japanese and the Vinh Long Bridge by the Australians, there is no longer a need for ferry crossings on the return route. Enjoy lunch at a popular Pho restaurant before arriving in Ho Chi Minh City, commonly known as Saigon, named after the river that flows through Cho Lon.
Overnight at your own hotel in Saigon.
